All Over Platinum Blonde
*Starting at $420
Platinum blonde, often referred to as a global bleach out or bleach and tone, is an all over solid blonde from root to ends. Bleach is applied very carefully, directly to the scalp, avoiding any overlap with previously bleached hair. Once the hair to the desired level, the hair is washed and prepped for the second step-toning. Toner, gloss, and glaze are all interchangeable terms for the color that is applied after the initial bleaching process. The purpose of toner is to cancel out any remaining warmth (yellow) from the hair to give it the desired white/silver platinum finish. The necessity for this second step lies in the fact that hair can not be bleached to pure white without compromising the health and integrity of the hair. Instead, we lighten hair to a pale yellow color (think the inside of the banana peel), and then neutralize the remaining unwanted warm pigments with color. Because the heat of the scalp ensures the hair lightens to this perfect pale yellow color (often times referred to as raw lift) it is important that root touch ups be done on hair no longer than 1/2-3/4 of an inch. This means more frequent touch up appointments-typically 4-7 weeks. The frequency of touchups and the fact that every strand on the head is being treated with bleach means at home care such as appropriate products and limiting heat styling is very important for maintaining healthy feeling platinum hair. While the maintainace may seem daunting, platinum blonde is a beautiful statement hair color that can be tailored to every hair texture and skin tone.
